Hello Health Group Launches Comprehensive Menopause Survey 2024, Unveiling Key Insights Across Southeast Asia

Nov 26, 2024

In honor of World Menopause Day, Hello Health Group conducted an extensive Menopause Survey 2024 across six key markets—Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan—gathering responses from 1,046 women to better understand their experiences, awareness levels, and access to menopause-related information.

The survey’s findings offer a comprehensive view into women’s experiences with menopause, covering awareness gaps, accessibility issues, cultural sensitivities, and treatment knowledge. Here are the key insights revealed:

Awareness Gap: Only 43% of women surveyed feel well-informed about menopause, with notable disparities across regions—85% of women in the Philippines feel informed, while awareness remains low in Vietnam (22%) and Taiwan (21%).

Access to Information: Just 50% of women report easy access to reliable menopause information, while only 39% know where to find trustworthy resources on symptom relief, highlighting a pressing need for accessible, accurate resources.

Cultural Sensitivity and Taboos: Despite progress, cultural taboos persist—28% of women still view menopause as a taboo topic, and only 47% feel comfortable discussing it with family or partners, underscoring the need to break stigmas around this natural life stage.

Symptom Prevalence and Low HRT Awareness: Nearly all respondents experience symptoms like sleeplessness (affecting 58%), yet only 16% turn to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for relief. Awareness of HRT’s benefits and risks remains low, with a preference for lifestyle adjustments such as diet and exercise.

These findings highlight the crucial role of accessible information, supportive conversations, and culturally sensitive resources in addressing the needs of women experiencing menopause across Southeast Asia.

At Hello Health Group, we are committed to bridging these gaps by offering localized health content and resources, empowering millions of women to navigate menopause with confidence and support. By fostering a culture of open dialogue and expanding our educational resources, we strive to ensure that every woman feels heard and supported through this important life stage.
