VP of Technology

Technology Vision

• You’ll establish the company’s technical vision and lead all aspects of the company’s technological development.
• You’ll architect the entire technical strategy for Hello Health.
• You’ll direct the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.
• You’ll conduct research and case studies on leading edge technologies and make determinations on the probability of implementation.
• You’ll act as a good steward of Hello Health Group resources and ensure control of Technology departmental budgets.
• You’ll supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
• You’ll act as a mentor to the technology team members
• You’ll show hands on approach to solve problems

Design and Development/Strategy

• The VP of Tech plays a leadership role in the engineering department where he/she seeks excellence in all engineering disciplines inclusive of data processing, quality assurance, application development, analytics, machine learning, algorithms, and data warehousing.
• In this position, the VP of Tech manages the day-to-day activities of the engineering teams as well as the management and execution of site/software development projects against delivery commitments and project plans. You’re also in charge of the management of the department’s staffing, resources, and mentoring, and maintaining a best-in-class engineering department.
• The VP of Tech leads the engineering team in the delivery of platform functionality through a mix of development software and helps the team in achieving and surpassing departmental goals. He/she provides technical guidance and direction, as well as hands-on resource and project management, for all site/software development activities.
• He/she takes the lead with a profound understanding of new and relevant technologies for the purpose of realizing efficiency. He/she ensures the optimal application of engineering resources in order to meet product development and consumer requirements and ensures the implementation of agile processes that support site/software development processes.
• The VP of Tech plays a leading role in the recruiting activities of the engineering department in order to ensure consistency in departmental efficiency. You’ll also play a mentorship role to key engineering personnel, assisting in their duties upon request, and constantly promoting the growth of their professional skills, readying them for the assumption of his/her duties in his absence or retirement.
• The VP of Tech also plays a leading engineering role within the department where he/she is tasked with the planning, management, execution and implementation of site/software projects, inclusive of the day-to-day project management, scope management, issue and risk management, as well as regular status reporting
• In this capacity, the VP of Tech develops strategic plans with regard to the technical development of sites/software and establishes the business’s technical vision that guides all aspects of technological development. He/she also oversees the strategic deployment of the departmental resources leading to optimal resource allocation and the smooth and successful development of sites/software.
• The VP of Tech , in this capacity is responsible for the overall system development life-cycle.

Collaboration/Support

• The role of the VP of Tech is also a highly collaborative one. The VP of Tech  will work closely with senior engineering teams in the management and development of strategic planning. He/she will also work closely with the user experience department in designing, developing, and deploying scalable technologies that will lead to increased consumer satisfaction.
• The VP of Tech also works with senior engineering management in ensuring that systems meet the overall business requirements and standards.

People and Performance Management

• Acts as a good steward of Hello Health Group resources and ensures control of Technology departmental budgets.
• You ensure the Hello Health Group Core Values, our Purpose and Mission are exemplified in your own behavior and brought to life by your team.
• You fully commit to and implement Performance Management in line with company policy, engaging and leading individuals and the team effectively to meet company goals.
• You ensure that all team members have updated Job Descriptions, MBOs and are fully aware of the expectations of their role and responsibilities.
• You hold regular performance 1 on 1 reviews with direct reports to ensure high levels of staff engagement and delivery on KPIs.
• You actively identify and address the development needs of your team, utilize the learning opportunities available to them, ensuring your team maximize their own learning by making use of HHG’s offerings such as the HHG Academy.
• You partner with the HR team to ensure that company policies are implemented and that all employment contracts and practices are compliant with local labor laws.
• You attract, recruit, retain and develop staff to position Hello Health as an employer of choice in your country.

 

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead/Head of Engineering/VP of Tech /VP of Technology or similar leadership role.
• Knowledge of technological trends to build a strategy.
• Understanding of budgets and business-planning.
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research.
• Advanced English language is mandatory.
• Leadership and organizational abilities.
• Strategic thinking.
• Problem-solving attitude.
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Backend development: PHP, Laravel Framework 5.3+, Golang.
• Frontend development: React JS + Next.js, HTML, CSS (bootstrap).
• Database: SQL and relational database management, specifically MySQL, NOSQL like MongoDB.
• Knowledge about Unix, Linux server, Nginx , Apach.
• Frameworks and Architecture: CI, Yii, Lumen, Laravel, WordPress, Strapi, Express, Koa, VueJs + Nuxt, React + Next, Gastby, MVC, SOA, Microservice, CI/CD with Jenkins and AWS, Elastic search.
• Cloud: AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernete.
